State of the union 2023 live update

Tuesday night at 9 p.m., U.S. President Joe Biden will make the State of the Union speech in front of a divided Congress and persistently high inflation.

The address will be dominated by topics including the expansion of American jobs, the conflict in Ukraine,

the resurgence of domestic manufacturing, the ongoing epidemic, and America's geopolitical rivalry with China,

according to White House advisers who provided an outline of his remarks.

The event, which is attended by every member of the House and Senate, all nine justices of the Supreme Court

the majority of the president's Cabinet, and the diplomatic corps, will take place on Tuesday for the first time since 2019

that the president and congressional leaders are allowed to bring guests.

Additionally, since Republicans firmly took control of the U.S. House in the midterm elections in November,

Biden will be delivering the historic address for the first time in front of a split Congress.
